The Transport Minister today visited the recently opened Chapman Road Shared Path in the City of Greater Geraldton, which is proving to be a highly valued and used path connecting people of all ages and abilities to civic amenity and recreational precincts.
Forming part of the State Government's $4.9 million Geraldton Cycling Network Expansion, this 3.5km long, 3m wide path provides a continuous link between Corallina Quays and Glenfield Beach Drive.
The path was one of the top priorities in the Geraldton 2050 Cycling Strategy.
Locals and visitors alike are thrilled to see this path become a reality, with demand for local off-road shared paths being a key aspiration for the past decade.
The Chapman Road Shared Path features free self-service bike repair stations at the north and south ends of the path.
Stage one of the network expansion was completed in 2022 and saw a new shared path constructed between Hillview Drive and Chapman Road.
Stage three is currently at design phase and will see a shared path constructed along the Brand Highway from Tarcoola Beach to Cape Burney.
