Lara Dalton MLA is encouraging young people in the Geraldton community to attend the upcoming 'Building Tomorrow: Have Your Say' workshops.

The workshop, hosted by the Department of Communities, is part of the Cook Labor Government’s consultation for Western Australia’s new Youth Action Plan.

The development of the YAP will set out the actions the Cook Government will take to achieve improved outcomes for young people over the next three years.

A drop-in session will be held on Wednesday 1 November at Wonthella Skate Park from 3:30pm – 4:30pm with an online session from 6:00pm the same day.

The event is open to those aged 10 to 25 and attendees can register via Eventbrite.

Young people will be asked for their views on issues such as mental health, climate change, and how they can best be supported to reach their full potential.

In addition to forums happening around the State, individuals and organisations can have their say via the WA Youth Action Plan consultation paper.

Comments attributed to Lara Dalton MLA:

“The Cook Labor Government is committed to hearing from young people, and providing a voice to young people, on the matters that are important to them.

“Young people make up almost 20 per cent of WA’s population and they play a significant role in our local communities, that’s why it is so important we hear from them and are informed by their diverse experiences.

“I encourage young people in Geraldton to attend the local forum, have their say and help shape the new Youth Action Plan.”
